King of Travelers
Published in Paperback by The Twiggs Company (15 September, 1999)
Author: Edward T. Martin
Average review score:

A very refreshing read!
I found this book to be extremely fascinating and well written. Ed Martin draws you into his personal journey, openly sharing his very human feelings, discoveries and excitement. He writes with a genuine warmth that makes you wish you were traveling along with him, not only to share the experience but to hear him tell you first hand about his life. His travels through Afghanistan and India in search of more information about Jmmanuel's (known to us as Jesus) years spent in India are pure adventure. He intersperses tales of his unusual and touching experiences growing up. Great photos compliment the story and Ed's love of travel and freedom surely make him a King of Kravelers as well.

A very good book!
This was an interesting adventure book, I couldn't put it down, and I highly recommend it. One of my favorite parts of the book deals with the book "The Talmud of Jmmanuel" which I had the opportunity to read a few years ago. If your into real Adventure Stories, UFO's and Jesus's(Jmmanuel) Lost Years, then this book is for you.

Review of King of Travelers: Jesus' Lost Years in India
From its very first page to its last, this book will hold your attention and be very difficult to put down. Ed Martin tells of his first-hand quest for information about Jesus' "lost" years in India undertaken while he was in the Peace Corps in Afghanistan. His investigations confirm that the traditions are still very much alive that place the young Jesus in India for many years, with his having traveled there and back to Palestine along the Silk Road route. Interspersed with Martin's findings are his own interesting experiences, which include many photographs and scenic views from his mountaineering trips. During this quest Martin learns about the Talmud of Jmmanuel document, which gives the true story behind the ministry and teachings of the man known as Jmmanuel (alias Jesus), and allows us to understand the origins of Christianity. The book contains 8 chapters and 48 photos.

A Kitten Called Moonlight

Authors: Martin Waddell and Christian Birmingham

A Kitten Called Moonlight
I liked the story because it's a really good book and it's the best story I read. It's a really loving story. It has a very happy ending.

A HEARTWARMING STORY OF UNCONDITIONAL LOVE
This is a story of unconditional love - a tiny lost kitten who needs it and a mother and daughter eager to give it.

Charlotte loves to hear her mother tell the story of how they found their kitten, named "Moonlight." As the mother recounts the tale of going to the sea's edge on a blustery winter night, children will relate to the trust they place in their parents.

Moreover, it is the tale of a mother and daughter, the love implicit in their relationship as the mother goes forward when the daughter insists that "There's something down there by the sea. I know that there is."

Luminous moonswept illustrations by Christian Birmingham, a talented young British artist, heighten the impact of this warmly reassuring tale. It's a feel-good story for all.

A Kitten Called Moonlight....Sweet and Poignant
This is a lovely book written with delicacy and tenderness. It's a story about a story as told by a little girl and her mommy. Charlotte and her mother are taking a few moments in a quiet afternoon to tell each other their favorite story: the story of how they came to "adopt" a cold, wet, and hungry kitten late one night on a stormy beach near their house. As Charlotte and her mommy discuss how their story goes, it is told with such tender emotion that it tugs at the heartstrings. Waddell has captured the innocence and delicacy of the four year old child and the strong bond between mother and child. Paintings by Christian Birmingham are soft and painterly in muted colors that recall early impressionism and are a fine accompaniament for this story.

Find out when you read this great book

I loved this book you should to.
Kristy and the haunted mansion is one of the best baby-sitters club books that I have read so far. I love baby-sitters club because it's always an adventure to experience. Kristy and her softball team got stuck in a thunderstorm and had to sleep in a big spooky mansion on sayer road. they snoop around and find out a lot of stuff about the people who used to live there and even met one of them. But they survived the night. The members of the baby-sitters club threw a party for Kristy when she got back to Stoneybrook.

This book was great!
Kristy and the Haunted Mansion is really worth reading. It's so good, and I like that Kristy and the Krashers' night is so creepy, and mysterious. Read it, and you won't regret it!

Legacy of Love

Author: Marianne K. Martin

TEN STARS * * * * * * * * * *
Marianne Martin is a bodacious author! Sage Bristo is so enticing, alluring, HOT, HOT, HOT! - on paper no less! LEGACY left me breathless for more. Luckily I had NEVER ENDING readily available. YES! , I believe in love! And always will!

SEXY, SEXY, SEXY!!!
I'm looking for Sage Bristo!!!! I'm spoiled now. I am wishing I had a woman who would talk to me like that! Realistically, when I feel the need I guess I'll have to read Legacy again. First, though, I'm waiting impatiently to get my hands on the sequel Never Ending.

But to say only that Legacy of Love and the main character is sexy doesn't do the author justice. Marianne Martin is a fine writer and this book I hesitate to call merely a romance. Martin moves her readers quickly through a gamut of emotions with bright dialogue and just the right amount of tension. She has a writing style that keeps you reading hungrily and characters you won't forget.

I am about to devour her other two books, Love in the Balance and Dawn of the Dance, while I'm waiting. Marianne Martin is now at the top of my 'must read' list.

AT LAST
Yes, finally! A main character that's all of that-succesful, lesbian, and Native American! And not only that. She is developed in a wonderfully well-written tale of love. As a Native American I have suffered for years without a heroine I can claim. Martin has written me a treasure.

The Lieutenant of Inishmore
Published in Paperback by Methuen Publishing, Ltd (October, 2001)
Author: Martin McDonagh
Average review score:

Wow.
OK. I think McDonagh is a straight genius. I read this play, because I am currently in The Cripple of Inishmaan(the tame McDonagh play), but only because out director didn't think he could get the rights to this one. But I read this play, and I almost [messed] myself almost every other line. it is just that funny. I wish that we could have gotten the rights to it. It would be great to watch our director figure out how he would pull all this crazy stuff off. Overall, this is just a really funny, violent reason as to why I love the theatre. READ THIS SCRIPT. IT IS AMAZING. It is also very, very lean. No fat at all. A very short, perfect read.

Another production challenge from McDonagh
I directed McDonagh's "The Lonesome West" for the Station Theatre, Urbana, IL, in January 2000. (See 8am.com for reviews and links.) What an exhilarating ride! The new play -- like all of McDonagh's maddeningly vicious, hilarious efforts -- would be equally frustrating to stage, particularly the need for dead cats, live cats (covered with shoe polish), and other acts to drive directors mad. ("The Lonesome West" required dozens of Catholic religious figurines to be smashed nightly, not to mention an exploding oven and on-stage rain.) Certainly his staging challenges make these plays riveting to see, but they are equally rich in the reading. Be prepared to laugh... and then shocked at yourself for laughing.

An amazing, unconvential work of theatre
This play manages to capture on the stage everything that Tarantino brings to life on the screen. I saw the RSC's performance while over in the UK and it was mindblowing. What was totally cool was that rather than a program, one was given a script, which I have read a few times, and proves better each time around.
The play is at the same time very literate and very funny in a morbid sense, the only things coming to mind for comparison being Pulp Fiction and Irvine Welsh novels. This is a new directin in theatre and a great read on it's own.
A truly original piece of work.

Lillian Bassman
Published in Hardcover by Bulfinch Press (June, 1997)
Authors: Lillian Bassman, Martin Harrison, Catherine Chermayeff, Kathy McCarver Mnuchin, and Nan Richardson
Average review score:

CRIMINALLY UNKNOWN
if i could take only two photography books to my desert island, they'd be "Jeanloup Sieff : 40 Years of Photography," plus Lillian Bassman's relatively thin -- yet sensually-overloading -- volume. what a crime her work is not widely known. hers truly are impressionist photographs at their absolute finest, dripping with lushness and yet extreme fragility. they seem to float dreamlike around us and about us, offering a glimpse into that most rarefied world: the strange ethereal galaxy of a french fashion model of the 40s and 50s, bathed in moonlight and wrapped in jazz. god these are beautiful pictures.

A book of ethereal black and white fashion photographs
Lillian Bassman treats every photograph as though it were a canvas. With her selective toning and bleaching, it's hard to believe many of these images are photos. Her work in fashion was groundbreaking.

Stunning Fashion Photography! Puts The Zip In Your Zipper.
Lillian Bassman is a well known fashion photographer of the 40's and 50's. Her work is glamorous and visually exciting. The photos in this collection are a combination of photography and other artistic tools which give them an almost otherworldly feel. The book is oversized, which makes many of the pictures big enough for framing which is exactly what I intend to do. There is also a short biography of her career which continues through today. A very good buy overall.

I love this Book!
This is such a great book. The story is so cute about a little bug trying to find who he is. I think it helps teach kids that everyone is different and special. The illistrations are wonderful as well. I think it's a very captivating book for all ages. My daughter is only 2 and she enjoys listening to it and looking at the neat pictures. And of course it caputred my heart, why else would I write a great review!? :O)

A heartwarming, highly enjoyable story to read aloud
The Little Squeegy Bug is a children's picture book collaboratively written by Bill Martin Jr. and Michael Sampson, and with colorful illustrations by Patrick Corrigan featuring soft, muted hues around a theme of deep blue evening sky. This charming and entertaining tale for young readers is about a courageous little squeegy bug who doesn't know what type of insect he is or where he came from; he is looking for something special to distinguish himself from the other insects, until his quest leads him to wise spider, who gives the squeegy bug a starlight and gives him the name Firefly. The Little Squeegy Bug is a heartwarming, highly enjoyable story to read aloud to young children right before bedtime.

Magical.....
The little squeegy bug didn't know who or what he was. He wasn't an ant or a cricket or even a flea and he wanted to find his purpose in life. When he met Buzzer the Bumblebee, he decided he wanted to be special, just like him. But how could he find a pair of silver wings and a stinger? Buzzer tells Squeegy he'll have to touch the sky to get a beautiful pair of silver wings like his. So that's just what he tried to do. He spent three days climbing the tallest thing he knew of, a cattail, certain it must touch the sky. But on the third evening, he was caught in a terrible storm and saved from certain disaster by a very nice caterpillar, who took him in and gave him a place to sleep. The next morning, the two travel to the web at the very end of the cattail and consult with the all-knowing, Haunchy the Spider. Haunchy weaves Squeegy a beautiful pair of silver wings for his back. But there is no stinger. Instead, Haunchy reaches up and grabs the brightest star in the night sky, attaches it to Squeegy's bottom and names him Squeegy the Firefly, the Lamplighter of the Sky..... Originally published in 1946, Bill Martin Jr, Michael Sampson and Pat Corrigan have teamed up to create this new version of a timeless classic. Their gentle, magical, understated text is enhanced by their high-tech geometric illustrations and together they've authored an innovative and creative story that will mesmerize youngsters with its simple message and bright, bold, textured artwork. Perfect for kids 4-8, The Little Squeegy Bug is an uplifting treasure to read and share again and again, and pass down from one generation to the next.

A childhood favorite!
When I found out I was pregnant I called my mom to see if she still had this book from my childhood...I HAD TO HAVE IT!! It was a gift to me from my great aunt (a schoolteacher) - and I wanted to have it to read to my child. There are only a couple of books that left lasting impressions on me - this one is at the top of that list. Now I am looking for another copy as the one I have is falling apart!

Little Squeegy Bug
This was probably my favorite book when I was very little...it has a good message and is very creative, both in writing and illustrations. I have searched endlessly for a copy and finally found one (unbelievably) at an auction. Needless to say, I was completely thrilled. I'm sorry it is out of print..would like to have copies for my grandchildren.
